The taste of good Mexican cuisine

Restaurant

More than six decades of outstanding Mexican food have made today's Maz Mezcal the gourmet choice in New York's Upper East Side. Your host, Eduardo Silva, has vivid memories of his grandmother's small 1930's restaurant El Triangulito, famous for excellence in Mazatlan, Mexico. In 1948, his father Sr. Pedro Silva immigrated to the United States and continued the family tradition with El Mirador. This restaurant served its distinguished clientele on 50th St at First Avenue. Later, another restaurant bearing the very Mexican name El Azteca, followed by another called El Sombrero, continued with the family tradition offering their exquisite cuisine only a block away from today's Maz Mezcal location, and continued for another sixteen years.

When Pedro Silva retired, his son Eduardo Silva expanded the old family tradition serving the best Mexican food on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, later renaming the restaurant Maz Mezcal. Ever since, this name has become an icon of gastronomic excellence. In 2001 Maz Mezcal added a new bar in order to serve its customers with elegance and comfort. Today, Mr. Eduardo Silva, his wife Maria and their daughter Gabrielle will personally welcome you with their traditional warm hospitality in the best Mexican style.
